Catasetum Dark Tale 'Black Surprise' x Catasetum Ryan Harrington 'Best of the Best'

Solid black Catasetum breeding has been elusive, but Dark Tale (Donna Wise x Louise Clarke) 'Black Surprise' has given us hope. The flowers of 'Black Surprise' are so dark that we almost missed seeing them among the shadows created by the leaves. Ctsm. Ryan Harrington (Ctsm. tenebrosum x Ctsm. denticulatum) has been an excellent hybrid, with 'Best of the Best' edging out all the others with its dark color and remarkable flowering abilities. There is tremendous potential here for solid black Catasetum breeding. This grex is 44% tenebrosum, 25% denticulatum,19% expansum and 12% pileatum. Will this be the perfect genetic combination?
